Mambo’s Story

We first met Mambo in 2018 at a pet adoption event inside a massive arena in New Jersey. Among the noise and chaos, there he was—silent, curled up in the corner of a crate, alone and scared. When we picked him up, he fell asleep in our arms.

We knew instantly: he was coming home with us.

After a short interview and barely an hour of waiting, we were approved—and just like that, we became Mambo’s dog dads.

My partner and I had been together 17 years at that point—married since 2015—and we thought we understood love. But Mambo expanded our hearts in ways we never expected.

He never barked. Not once in all the years we had him. He was gentle and kind, full of quiet affection, and the sweetest dog we had ever known.

As time went on, he was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease, and later, with an enlarged heart. In 2024, we were devastated when our vet suspected he had a brain tumor.

He began having seizures and required a complex medication routine—four times a day, different pills for different needs. Through it all he never changed. Always loving, calm, and forever friendly.

We gave him everything we had. And he gave us everything back.

We said goodbye to Mambo in June, 2025. He was 13 years old. In his final days, we held him, comforted him, and made sure he knew what he had always given us: safety, peace, and unconditional love.

AskMambo was born from that love.
